I am currently a senior majoring in public relations at the University of Oregon. Graduation is June 13th, 2009. This year, 2009, holds the potential for a variety of things depending on who you are. As a student searching the job market, I must admit, the options could look brighter. However, my observations lead me to believe that I ought to conduct a steady and organized job search. I will posses a degree in public relations, which gives me the skill set to confidently apply to a wide variety of job listings.
As an aspiring PR practitioner soon to graduate, I feel the need to have a strong resume and confidant interview skills. Additionally, I will be valuble to potential employers if I understand social media.

I am new, and social media is relatively new. Many of my friends use all types of social media, giving me the perfect avenue to learn how, why, when, and where they use these media forms. Furthermore, the University of Oregon's PR program teaches the essentials of social media. Any student in my shoes would be wise to tap into available opportunities to learn what nearly everyone in communication wants to know: how can we utilize this new generation of media? My first step in the direction of understanding the previous question is this blog.
